Our Beliefs

It’s not uncommon for churches to have detailed belief statements that can feel like
a bunch of lines drawn in the sand, which is a shame. Here at the Upper Room we
take a different approach: simple and straight forward. Our core beliefs are rooted in
Jesus, verbs which can be practically applied, create harmony between God and
people, and uplift the unity of the community of believers.

Follow Jesus
John 14:6 (ESV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me.

Love God
Matthew 22:37–38 (ESV)
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.

Love Others
Matthew 22:39–40 (ESV)
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Love One Another
John 13:34–35 (ESV)
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved
you, you also are to love one another. By this
all people will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Make Disciples
Matthew 28:18–20 (ESV)
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
